Double sided tin plate occupies an important position in many industries due to its unique cost-effectiveness advantage. It should be clarified that the choice of tin spraying process is usually based on its good weldability, low cost, suitability for mixed assembly of through-hole components and SMT, and requirements for surface flatness.   1、 Consumer Electronics and Home Appliances Industry

  This is the traditional application field of double-sided tin plate.

  Features: Large product volume, fast updates, high cost sensitivity.

  Typical applications:

  Home appliances: main control board and display board for air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, microwaves, induction cookers, etc.

  Audiovisual entertainment: TV motherboard, audio amplifier board, set-top box, DVD/Blu ray player.

  Computer peripherals: keyboard, mouse, mid to low end power supply, cooling fan control board.

  Other: electronic toys, small appliances (rice cookers, water kettles), LED lighting driver boards.

  Reason for demand: These products have moderate circuit complexity (double-sided boards are sufficient), often containing through-hole plug-in components that require wave soldering (such as electrolytic capacitors and interface terminals), and have extremely strict cost control. The tin spraying process perfectly matches these requirements.

  2、 Industrial Control and Automation Industry

  Characteristics: Requires stability and reliability, relatively controllable working environment (not very high temperature and humidity), limited demand for high-density and ultra high speed signals.

  Typical applications:

  PLC programmable controller and its extension modules.

  The low to medium power control part of frequency converters and servo drives.

  Industrial power supply, UPS uninterruptible power supply.

  Instrumentation: Circuit boards for data collectors, testing instruments, and sensor transmitters.

  Reason for demand: Industrial products value long-term supply stability and mature process reliability. The tin spraying process has a long history and a mature supply chain.   Characteristics: The application scope is strictly defined and the reliability requirements are extremely high.

  Reason for demand: Note that not all automotive electronics are applicable. Spray tin plates are mainly used for components that do not require high operating temperatures (non engine compartment), have no extremely fine spacing BGA/chips, and have low signal rates. Its cost advantage is very evident in the fiercely competitive mid to low end models. But it is necessary to use high-quality tin spraying processes and plates that meet automotive specifications.

  Characteristics: High requirements for current carrying capacity and welding firmness.

  Typical applications:

  Switching power supply: primary/secondary boards for computer adapters, industrial power supplies, and communication power supplies.

  LED driver power supply.

  Part of the auxiliary control board in the photovoltaic inverter.

  Some non core control modules in the charging station.

  Reason for demand: Power products usually have large-area copper plated and through-hole plug-in components (such as transformers, large capacitors, terminals). The tin spraying process can form a thicker tin layer on these large copper surfaces, which not only enhances the current capability but also provides good solderability for subsequent wave soldering.

  5、 Communication equipment (some peripheral and access devices)

  Characteristic: Used in areas where signal integrity requirements are relatively relaxed.

  Typical applications:

  Network equipment: routers, switches, peripheral interface boards for optical modem, power boards.

  Base station equipment: Some filters, power amplifier auxiliary boards, and monitoring boards in the base station.

  Walkie talkies, wireless telephones, etc.

  Reason for demand: In communication equipment, tin plated boards are usually used as daughter boards to carry analog, power, or low-speed digital signals, rather than core motherboards to handle high-speed signals. Its cost-effectiveness advantage helps to reduce overall equipment costs.

  Security monitoring: camera module board, some boards in DVR/NVR video recorder.

  Medical electronics (mid to low end): peripheral modules for some non life support devices with low signal frequencies, such as bed call devices and simple monitors.

  Commercial equipment: control boards for printers, copiers, POS machines, and vending machines.

  Core summary and boundary selection

  The industry that chooses double-sided tinplate usually follows the following logic, which is to meet most of the following conditions at the same time:

  Cost driven: highly price sensitive, pursuing high cost-effectiveness.

  Technical requirement matching: The circuit is mainly composed of medium and low-speed digital signals and analog signals, without dense fine pitch BGA (such as pin spacing>0.5mm) or QFN packaging, and there is no mandatory requirement for surface flatness.

  Process adaptation: The production process includes or is compatible with wave soldering technology, requiring the soldering of a large number of through-hole plug-in components.

  Moderate reliability requirements: The working environment is not very high temperature and humidity for a long time, and the product shelf life or storage cycle is controllable (production assembly can be completed within one or two years).

  On the contrary, when the product involves high-speed signals, densely spaced components, requires extremely long storage times, or operates in extreme environments, the industry tends to choose upgraded alternative processes such as immersion gold, immersion silver, or tin plating.
